Letv All-Metal Earphones (LU50609)

ø9mm Dynamic Driver

$10~$15
3.0/5.0

Although it takes time to get used to these earphones' extremely flat sound signature, after a while you begin to actually appreciate how detailed the sound is overall. However, be warned that the sound is slightly coldish and there is barely any lows. No sub-bass whatsoever.

NOTE: The buttons on the inline remote are missing on the pair I received, but the actual earphones sound perfectly fine, as you can see by the frequency response graphs.

Pros

  • A flat sound signature. Some like it, some hate it.
  • The sound is very detailed across the whole spectrum.
  • The build quality is pretty good, especially the housings.

Cons

  • A flat sound signature. Some like it, some hate it.
  • The bass response is limited to the mid-bass and lower-mids, and sounds quite cold. There's no sub-bass here.
  • The sound is colder than what you usually hear, and the mids are much more emphasized, which may seem unnatual at first.
  • There are no proper strain reliefs whatsoever, which may impact the durability in the longer term.
  • Although I'm sure it's possible to find these earphones packed in a retail package, it's sad to see that they are sold separately and in defective conditions.

Comfort & Fit

These earphones are bulky, but are shaped in a matter than hold them in place, pressing slightly against the ear. The pre-applied tips are so soft that it makes them useless.

Lows / Bass

The bass is present but is underemphasized and quite cold. Not very suitable for electronic music as there is absolutely no sub-bass.

Mids / Vocals

A flat sound signature has its merits and demerits. The mids are very loud and detailed, but there is something unnatural about how it sounds, compared to the sound produced by full-sized speakers. It sounds colder than what I'm used to.

Highs / Treble

The highs are crisp, vivid and detailed. Being so crisp and clear, there might be some slight sibilance, but it's not too fatiguing.
